how to design & build your own canopy

If you are looking for a canopy and are interested in your own building, let\'s give you some useful advice.
There are many different types of canopies on the market today. Choosing a pre-
Building a canopy can be a difficult task.
Browsing information about party tents, tents and portable garages from a website is time consuming, and at the end of the day, do you really know the difference between all the products sold?
This article will provide you with some answers to the Crown question and explain how you can build your own canopy.
The first step in buying or building a canopy is to decide what diameter of pipe is suitable for the canopy size you are interested in.
The diameter of the frame may be the most important factor in any canopy decision.
Don\'t be fooled by low prices!
Just because you see party tents, canopies or portable garages marked at incredible low prices doesn\'t mean it\'s a good purchase.
A good general guide for the appropriate frame diameter is as follows.
The minimum pipe diameter of the canopy frame with dimensions 18\' W x 20\' L or lower should be 1-
3/8 \", preferably made of galvanized steel.
For size 20\' W x 20\' L, the minimum pipe diameter is 1-
5/8 \"or more should be requested.
Pipe gauge is another important factor in determining frame size and diameter.
The pipe gauge is the thickness of the pipe wall and is the key factor to determine how strong the canopy is.
The canopy frame of pipes with meters above 18 should always be avoided.
When handling pipes, keep in mind that the pipe wall thickness decreases as the number increases. A 24-
Gauge tube is much thinner than tube 18gauge pipe.
If the pipe wall thickness is too thin, then the canopy is likely to collapse in the first storm you encounter.
The second step in purchasing or building a canopy is to decide the angle required.
The three main canopy styles on the market today include flat roofs, low peaks and peaks.
The most common of the three is the peak angle or A-Frame.
Flat roof canopy with 90-
Suitable for short time
Long day activities such as shade or flea market.
If you\'re looking for long-flat roof canopy is not the best option
Season guarantee or all season guarantee.
Although the flat roof canopy is powerful, the flat roof shape is not ideal for rain or snow.
Because the roof has no angle, rain and snow will pile up on the ground, causing the collapse.
For areas where the weather is clear and not clear
With Snow, the low peak style is a good choice.
Low-peak canopy to 110-
The angle of degree is considered a shallow spacing.
The slight angle provides some shape for the rain, but is still more suitable for the environment without severe annual weather.
However, for communities that do not allow objects to be displayed on the fence line, the low peak canopy is ideal.
Peak angle is the most popular style of canopies with a high angle of 120-degree pitch.
The high spacing design is ideal for snow and water shedding.
Steep angles prevent snow and water from piling up on the canopy frame.
The result is a sturdy all-weather canopy frame that will continue to be used in one season after another.
Once the angle is selected, it is time to discuss the length of the pipe needed to build the desired style.
The flat roof and low peak canopy style consists of a fairly simple design.
For example, if you want a flat roof or low peak canopy of 10\' W x 10\' L, then the length of the roof raf sub on each side must be shortened to 5 \'.
The roof raf sub is a pipe frame member that constitutes the peak of the roof.
The waterproof cloth required to cover these frames will be the exact size of the canopy frame.
If you want a canopy frame of 10\' x 10\' then you also need a waterproof cloth of 10\' x 10\' to cover the structure.
The peak canopy frame is slightly different in structure and needs to add 8 \"pipe length to the roof after tube.
Quoting the same example as before, if you are building a peak canopy of 10\' W x 10\' L, then the roof raf sub on both sides must measure 5\' 8 \".
The extra 8 \"is called the rise and needs to make up for the steep 120-degree angle.
The only difference in this rule is the 18\' wide canopy frame, requiring 9\' 10 \"to be measured per rafter rod \".
Due to the steep angle of spacing, the waterproof cloth of the peak canopy must also be 2 feet larger than the canopy frame you are building.
For the example of 10w x 10l, the correct tarp size for this peak canopy is 12\'x 10 \'.
Width and after tube are the most important factors for all canopy frames.
However, the length of the canopy can be what you want and for every 10\' length a leg should be installed to support the load.
When assembling any canopy frame, it is best to put all the parts in place.
Place all the three-way and four-way joint connectors along with the associated pipes on the ground.
Starting at one end, start connecting each pipe to the accessory that works from the front to the back.
Once the top roof part of the frame is assembled, a bungee ball tie belt can be used to attach the waterproof cloth cover.
Put the legs of the canopy aside so that the whole frame is tilted.
From this point, the other side of the canopy leg can be installed to do the job.
